We move at an intentional pace and how we work together is as important as the work we do. We care as much for kindness and care for each other as we do for accomplishing our work goals. Note that no particular schooling/degree is required in order to apply for this position. We would love to hire someone from within our communities—people who are trans, queer, BIPOC, and/or disabled are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the Transforming Hearts Collective: The Transforming Hearts Collective represents a vision of a world in which queer and trans people can show up fully as ourselves in all of the places we call home. Our mission is to nurture faith-rooted transformation that allows queer and trans people (particularly people of color, disabled people, people living with HIV, and other folks with multiple marginalized identities) to survive and thrive. Our work is twofold: (a) resourcing queer and trans people to foster resilience and healing and (b) resourcing faith communities and other groups to be places and forces for justice, healing, and liberation for queer and trans people within and outside their walls. We are a national organization based in North Carolina with a focus on the South.

The Collective began in 2016 when four queer and trans faith leaders with decades of experience in LGBTQ interfaith work and faith-based organizing decided to co-create an organization that would center anti-oppression, trans leadership, and healing justice and respond to emerging needs in our communities. Our work has included training hundreds of churches and faith leaders in trans inclusion and justice, consulting with and training denominational bodies and seminaries on culture shift, supporting state-level efforts to mobilize people of faith to counter anti-LGBTQ state bills, creating spiritual spaces at protests and conferences, and offering trainings on trauma and healing to communities disproportionately impacted by HIV.
